Karsten Speck (born June 29, 1960 in Schlema ) is a German entertainer , actor and singer .

Life

Karsten Speck is the son of a graduate engineer and a speech therapist; he grew up in East Berlin . He started playing the piano at the age of six. Before he turned to acting, his career aspiration was an opera singer. He completed his training in 1981, initially at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy . In 1982 he moved to the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Art , which he left in 1986 with a diploma.

Karsten Speck is married and has a son.

Career

On November 5, 2004, Speck was sentenced to two years and ten months in prison by the Dortmund Regional Court for serious fraud . He had defrauded a Berlin couple in real estate deals for around one million euros. On October 27, 2005, Speck began his prison sentence in the Hakenfelde correctional facility in Berlin after he had worked for filming the television series Hallo Robbie! Prison had been granted. After being transferred to an open prison in the Waldeck correctional facility near Rostock in April 2006 , Speck was given free time to shoot for the series.

On July 16, 2007, the Frankfurt (Oder) public prosecutor's office brought charges of gang and commercial fraud against Speck, his wife and father-in-law and another family member. The allegation was that Speck had paid a total of 900,000 euros for the ZDF series Hallo Robbie! not paid into a fund for the victims of his real estate fraud as agreed. Instead, the money is said to have flowed to a company owned by his father-in-law. Including the 2004 conviction, Speck was sentenced to a five-year prison term after a confession on December 13, 2010, nine months of which have been served because of the length of the proceedings.

In 2009 he filed for personal bankruptcy .

On September 20, 2011, Karsten Speck was prematurely released from the Hakenfelde correctional facility at the request of the public prosecutor's office and by decision of the Penal Enforcement Chamber of the Berlin Regional Court .
