characters

Finn Kiesewetter

Finn Kiesewetter ( Sven Martinek ), born in Lübeck, grew up with his great aunts Ria and Toni from the age of five, because his parents were killed in a car accident. At the age of 18 he moved to Hamburg, took his Abitur here and started working for the police. As an outstanding police officer, he made a career relatively quickly and made it to the chief detective. However, in the long run he cannot cope with the hierarchical structures of the authority. When he was in his mid-thirties, he dared to get out and bought a large piece of land with an old farm with his savings. The largely deserted landscape of the Uckermark corresponds to his deeply rooted longing for space, space, air and solitude. But then his farm burns down. Whether it is arson or personal negligence cannot be clarified at first. Finn has no choice but to go back to Lübeck. His great aunts, who are very happy that their Finn is finally coming back to Lübeck, get him a job with the Lübeck criminal investigation department because they know the prosecutor Elke Rasmussen from before and have asked her to use her influence. Since Elke has never forgotten her childhood sweetheart Finn, she is happy to comply.

Elke Rasmussen

Public prosecutor and ex-wife of Kiesewetter's superior Lars Englen, appears ambitious and tough at first glance. At least that's the image that Elke Rasmussen ( Tessa Mittelstaedt ) likes to convey to others. She is determined to win over her childhood sweetheart Kiesewetter and thinks she has good cards. But she doesn't know what makes Kiesewetter really tick, and she doesn't expect her ex-husband's bitter resistance to this connection. Rasmussen had pulled a few levers so that Kiesewetter could move to Lübeck. As tough as she is, she secretly longs for a strong shoulder. So Elke is reason vs. Feeling, reality vs. Reverie, career vs. Private life, basically: Rasmussen vs. Elke.

Dr. Hilke Zobel

After a serious wrong decision during a child abduction, the public prosecutor Elke Rasmussen has to face the consequences and leave the team of the Lübeck homicide squad. Her successor is Dr. Hilke Zobel ( Proschat Madani ), a principled hardliner with optimism intentions . Their arrival increases the pressure on Finn Kiesewetter's team.

Sandra Schwartenbeck

The police chief commissioner from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is, despite her robust physique and sunny disposition, a hypochondriac who brings up a lot of energy to think up new diseases. Sandra Schwartenbeck ( Marie-Luise Schramm ) has been engaged to Holger, the dispatch manager of a Lübeck forwarding company, for nine years, but cannot yet decide to marry because all living conditions should be perfect before she dares to take this step. Sandra is a pragmatic and energetic police officer, but very unimaginative when it comes to psychological subtleties. She leaves the team in episode 56 for personal reasons.

Nina Weiss

Police Chief Superintendent Nina Weiss ( Julia Schäfle ) replaces Police Chief Superintendent Sandra Schwartenbeck from episode 57, after she suddenly switched to Hamburg because of her career. Nina Weiss is a committed, young and self-confident police officer and fits in well with Finn Kiesewetter's team. Accordingly, she enjoys the appreciation of her new colleagues. At the request of the new public prosecutor Zobel, she switched to the Lübeck Murder Commission and should provide a breath of fresh air.

Lars Englen

Lars Englen ( Ingo Naujoks ) is the crime director and group leader, so Finn is the direct boss in the Lübeck criminal investigation department, married in second marriage to a woman 15 years younger, the new father of two little twin girls. Englen is a power man and bureaucrat who appears just as patriarchal in the area as in private life. He loves press conferences, interviews and public attention, these are the values that Englen would stand for and leave almost anything behind. Initially, Englen was in constant competition with Kiesewetter, until one day he became the victim of internal restructuring and became Kiesewetter's partner.

Mr. Schroeter

Mr Schroeter ( Veit Stübner ) is the longest-serving employee of the commissioner's office and chief police commissioner, who is longingly waiting for his retirement. He doesn't want to get into (possibly dangerous) action as much as possible and has holed himself up behind his desk, from where he preferably delegates filing. If no murder happens, he is responsible for traffic offenses and robbery. He always has a bottle of breakfast grain in his favorite drawer. As a police officer, Schroeter is experienced, but little inspired. So his theories about the course of events usually run into the void or even absurd. Kiesewetter's appearance in Lübeck scares Schroeter of all things. Afraid of having to work properly.

serious

Ernst ( Jürgen Uter ) is something like the factotum of the office, his age is just as difficult to estimate as his actual position, and privately you don't know anything about him, not even whether Ernst is his first or last name. Ernst sits at the reception and is otherwise responsible for everything that has to do with caretaker services.

Main venues

In addition to the police station and forensic medicine, there are many places within the city area that play an important role in the series: the Upper and Lower Trave , the Lübeck harbor, the Lübeck market square, the Holstentor , the Lübeck yacht harbor, the Gänge quarter and many others Further.

Police station

This is where the "headquarters" of the investigative team around Chief Inspector Finn Kiesewetter is located. The police station is located in the water police building. Over the years, technology and furniture have been added and replaced time and again. There is a professional, businesslike atmosphere throughout the police station, which in some offices is interrupted by small personal characteristics of the residents: Mr. Schroeter lovingly takes care of a whole range of different plants, and Lars Englen owns a gallery of his greatest successes, lined up in a showcase. The team's offices are all on one floor so that the shortest possible distances are guaranteed and nothing can hinder the rapid investigation. Finn Kiesewetter, Mr. Schroeter and Sandra Schwartenbeck share a large, spacious office. Lars Englen's office is opposite the commissioners. Elke Rasmussen, on the other hand, has her office on the other side of the building.

In the first episodes, the presidium (the location) was in Hamburg-Eilbek . The facade of a former hospital building was shown. The church towers that could be seen in the background do not exist in Hamburg. The building was later shown to the water police in Hamburg. The WS boat Elbe 23 can also be seen.

The correctional facility shown in the film is the JVA in Hamburg- Fuhlsbüttel (Santa Fu).

Forensic medicine

Forensic medicine is the realm of Dr. Ray ( Christoph Tomanek ). Every corpse and other pieces of evidence are examined here, which Finn and his colleagues can use to solve a case. The pathology is in the basement of the police station and is as old as the building itself, but the technology is state-of-the-art. Strahl has a small office in the forensic medicine department that houses an excellently equipped science library. With the help of this collected knowledge, Dr. Strahl is able to stand by Finn outside of his actual area of expertise, pathology, and to solve some tricky puzzles.
