Cheerful to fatal: Nordisch Herb is a German early-evening crime series that was broadcast in the early-evening program of the ARD program Das Erste . It plays in Husum in North Frisia . From the beginning of June 2011, 16 episodes of the series were filmed and broadcast between October 2011 and February 2012.

The young commissioner Nora Neubauer had to deal with her conservative colleague Jon Peterson and the traditional rural residents when she was transferred from Berlin to the province of Husum in North Friesland to work for the criminal police.
In addition to Jon Peterson, she meets her superior, Kriminalrat Hinrichs, the inspector candidate Rayk Kilian and the secretary Wibke Hooge. She also meets Claas Peterson, Jon Peterson's father and at the same time one of two undertakers in town. He quickly becomes friends with Mimi, the daughter of Nora Neubauer.

The reception of the series is different, the opinions varied. For example, on November 22, 2011, Quote Meter rated the series rather positively based on episode 5 ( The Puppeteer ).
The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung writes rather critically by denouncing the acting performances of the main actors as a result of the "bad direction". The leading actress Loretta Stern sounds as if she is “reading texts from the teleprompter ”, while Frank Vockroth expresses his thoughtfulness “by narrowing his eyes”.
The audience figures for the opening episode were weak at 1.94 million, the second was even more disappointing at 1.68 million, and the market share fell from 7.8 to 6.3 percent.

After the end of the first season, the series Heiter bis födlich: Murden im Norden started on the broadcasting slot on Tuesday evening . Originally, both series were supposed to run in staggered changes on the broadcast slot, but due to the sometimes weak ratings and bad criticism, the ARD announced on June 26, 2012 that Nordic herb would not receive a second season.
