Bourrouillan is a French commune with 157 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The community belongs to Arrondissement Condom and Canton Grand Bas-Armagnac (2015: Canton Nogaro ).

The inhabitants are called Bourrouillanais and Bourrouillanaises .

Bourrouillan is about 34 kilometers southwest of Condom in the historic province of Armagnac .

Bourrouillan is surrounded by the five neighboring municipalities:

Lias-d'Armagnac	Ayzieu
Panjas		Manciet
	Sainte-Christie-d'Armagnac

Bourrouillan is located in the river Adour catchment area .

The Douze forms the natural border with the neighboring municipality of Manciet to the east. Left tributaries of the Douze cross the territory of the commune,

• the Ruisseau de Maynard,
• the Ruisseau de Tapie and
• the Ruisseau de Guillombeyrie.

The Ruisseau de Taret has its source in Bourrouillan and flows into the Midou as a right tributary .

Population development

After the records began, the number of inhabitants rose to a high of around 580 at the beginning of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community fell to its lowest level of around 150 inhabitants by the beginning of the 21st century, with intermittent recovery phases.

Personalities

Alexandre Dufrèche, born on January 13, 1864 in Bourrouillan, died on June 4, 1919 in Cazaubon, was a French politician. He was mayor of Cazaubon between 1912 and 1919. During the Third French Republic he was a member of the National Assembly from May 8, 1910 until his death .
