Estramiac is a French commune with 142 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the Condom arrondissement and the canton of Fleurance-Lomagne (until 2015: canton of Saint-Clar ).

The inhabitants are called Estramiacais and Estramiacaises .

geography

Estramiac is about 41 kilometers east-southeast of Condom and about 30 kilometers northeast of Auch in the historic province of Armagnac on the northeastern edge of the department.

Estramiac is located in the catchment area of the Garonne River .

The Arrats , one of its tributaries, flows along the southwestern municipal boundary. Its tributaries, the Ruisseau de Coume Baillard, the Ruisseau de Coume Baillard and the Ruisseau de Barrère, tributaries of the Arrats, arise on the territory of the municipality and flow into the Arrats there.

The Ruisseau de la Caussade, a tributary of the Gimone , also rises in Estramiac.

Population development

After the records began, the population rose to a high of around 630 by the first half of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community sank to its lowest level of around 130 inhabitants with intermittent recovery phases until the turn of the millennium, before a phase of moderate Growth began and continues today.

Parish Church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption

The church, built in 1839, has a floor plan in the shape of a Latin cross . The single-nave nave runs out onto a semicircular apse . The bell tower is integrated into the facade.

The municipality's economy is predominantly agricultural.

Estramiac is located in the AOC zone of the Ail violet de Cadours garlic variety .
