Urgosse is a French commune with 239 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the Condom arrondissement and the Bas Armagnac municipality . The residents call themselves Urgossois .
geography
The municipality of Urgosse is located about 20 kilometers east of Aire-sur-l'Adour , seen more spaciously between Auch and Mont-de-Marsan on the Midour River in the southwest of the Armagnac landscape . Urgosse is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Nogaro in the north, Sion in the east, sorbets in the south and Arblade-le-Haut in the west. Urgosse does not have a distinctive town center, the development is rather relaxed and extends over partly wooded hills and vineyards. The municipality includes the hamlets of Lacourrège, Piron, Gamache, Rouillan, Ninoz, Lamothe, Patèque, Peyrus, Duclère, Balen, Le Moulin, Blandin, Fortune, Jean-Paul, Peyret, Marambat, Giram, Roumisté, Le Germain, Saint-Sévin and capucin .
history
The community of Urgosse, founded in 1793, was incorporated into the small town of Nogaro in 1829 together with Bouyt . While Bouyt (now spelled Bouit ) still belongs to Nogaro, Urgosse got his independence back in 1893.

Economy and Infrastructure
Wines from Urgosse and the surrounding area are used for the production of Armagnac brandy and for the Floc de Gascogne aperitif . In addition to viticulture, several farmers in the municipality produce cereals, pulses, vegetables, melons and poultry. Urgosse is located on the D25 trunk road from Nogaro to Riscle in the Adour Valley . The railway line from Port-Sainte-Marie to Riscle, opened in 1893, runs through the municipality of Urgosse . Railway operations were stopped in 1975.
