Beaumont ( Gascon Beumont ) is a French municipality with 136 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Gers in the region Occitania (2015 Midi-Pyrénées ); it belongs to the Arrondissement Condom and the commune association La Ténarèze . The residents call themselves Beaumontois / Beaumontoises .
geography
Beaumont is located around 41 kilometers northwest of Auch in the north of the Gers department. The community consists of numerous scattered settlements and individual farmsteads.
Neighboring municipalities are Larroque-sur-l'Osse in the north, Larressingle in the east, Mouchan in the southeast and south, Lauraët in the southwest and Montréal in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages Beaumont was the region Condomois in the historic landscape Gascogne and shared their fate. Beaumont was part of the District Condom from 1793 to 1801. Beaumont has been part of the Condom arrondissement since 1801 and belonged to the Condom canton from 1793 to 2015 . The municipality of Beaumont has only existed in its current size since 1837. At that time, the municipalities of Beaumont (1831: 231 inhabitants) and Vopillon (1831: 163 inhabitants) united to form today's municipality.
