Lannepax ( Gascon : Lanapatz ) is a French municipality with 494 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Gers in the region Okzitanien ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Condom and the community association Communauté de communes du Grand-Armagnac .
geography
Lannepax is located around 34 kilometers northwest of the small town. Also in the northwest of the Gers department and belongs to the Armagnac brandy area .
The municipality includes the Arnauté and Lannepax settlements as well as numerous hamlets and farmhouses.
history
Both the site and a fortress exist in the 13th century. They were built by the Counts of Armagnac. The community suffered badly during the Hundred Years War. After the phylloxera crisis that destroyed the vineyards, many people moved away in the 19th century. Historically, Lannepax belongs to the Comté de (Vic-) Fezensac region within Gascony. The place belonged from 1793 to 1801 to the District Condom. Also from 1793 to 1801 to the canton of Lannepax and 1801 to 2015 to the canton of Eauze .
