Bretagne-d'Armagnac ( Gaskognisch Bretanha d'Armanhac ) is a French commune with 422 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitania region (until 2015 Midi-Pyrénées ); it belongs to the Arrondissement Condom and the community association Grand Armagnac . The inhabitants call themselves Bretons / Bretonnes .

geography

Bretagne-d'Armagnac is located around 45 kilometers northwest of Auch in the north of the Gers department. The community consists of numerous scattered settlements and individual farmsteads.

Neighboring communities are Castelnau-d'Auzan in the north, Montréal in the northeast, Cazeneuve in the east and south and Eauze in the south and west. There are numerous vineyards.

history

In the Middle Ages, Bretagne-d'Armagnac lay within the Eauzan region in the historic Gascony landscape and shared its fate. Bretagne-d'Armagnac was part of the District Condom from 1793 to 1801. Since 1801, Bretagne-d'Armagnac has been assigned to the Arrondissement Condom and belonged to the canton of Eauze from 1793 to 2015 .
