Sempesserre ( Gaskognisch Sempessèrra ) is a French commune with 294 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Condom and the municipality association Lomagne Gersoise . Its inhabitants call themselves Sempesserrois / Sempesserroises .

geography

Sempesserre is located on a hill about 41 kilometers north of the city Auch in the very north of the Gers department. The community consists of the village of Sempesserre, several hamlets and individual farms. In terms of traffic, the community is on the D284 west of the N21 .

history

The place is in Lomagne , which was a vice-county in the Middle Ages. The community belonged to the District Lectoure from 1793 to 1801. In addition, Sempesserre was within the canton of Lectoure from 1793 to 1801 and was part of the canton of Miradoux from 1801 to 2015 . The parish was assigned to the Arrondissement of Lectoure from 1801 to 1926. This was dissolved in 1926 and the municipality part of the Condom arrondissement. In 1822 the previously independent municipality of Les Mastres (1821: 188 inhabitants) was incorporated.
