Tournecoupe ( Gaskognisch Tornacopa ) is a French commune with 263 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Condom and the municipal association Bastides de Lomagne . Its inhabitants call themselves Tournecoupois / Tournecoupoises .
geography
Tournecoupe is located on a plateau around 30 kilometers northeast of the city Auch in the northeast of the Gers department. The municipality consists of the village of Tournecoupe, the hamlets of Aux Mouliès , Cantemerle , Embernié , Enguerguène , Ennodon and Les Boulets as well as individual farms. The Arrats river meanders west of Tournecoupe . In terms of traffic, Tournecoupe is on the D7.
history
The town of Tournecoupe was founded between 1250 and 1300 and is located in Lomagne , which was a vice-county in the Middle Ages. It was managed by the D'Estinac family from their castle. The place belonged from 1793 to 1801 to the District Lectoure. In addition, Tournecoupe was within the canton of Saint-Clar from 1793 to 2015 . The parish was assigned to the Arrondissement of Lectoure from 1801 to 1926. This was dissolved in 1926 and the municipality part of the Condom arrondissement.
