Redesigned leisure harbor on the Baïse

Valence-sur-Baïse is a commune with 1135 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in France in the Gers department , in the Occitanie region . The municipality belongs to the canton of Baïse-Armagnac and was the capital of the canton of Valence-sur-Baïse until 2015 .

geography

The place is on a hill above the Baïse , directly at the confluence of the small tributary Auloue . In Valence-sur-Baïse the navigability of the Baïse ends upstream.

history

Valence-sur-Baise was founded in 1274 by the Counts of Armagnac , Gerald V. , and the abbot of the Cistercian - Monastery of Flaran , as Bastide founded.
