Gazaupouy ( Gasaupoi in Gaskognisch ) is a French commune with 296 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Condom and the municipality of Ténarèze . Its residents call themselves Gazaupouyais / Gazaupouyaises .

geography

Gazaupouy is located on a small hill about 25 kilometers southwest of the city of Agen in the north of the Gers department. The community consists of the village of Gazaupouy, several hamlets and numerous individual farms. In terms of traffic, the municipality is located away from any major traffic connections.

history

The place was in the Middle Ages within the rule of Fimarcon. The community belonged to the District Condom from 1793 to 1801. In addition, Gazaupouy was within the canton of Laroumieu from 1793 to 1801 and part of the canton of Condom from 1801 to 2015 . The parish has been assigned to the Condom arrondissement since 1801.
