Castera-Verduzan ( Gascon Lo Casterar e Verdusan ) is a French municipality with 988 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Gers in the region Okzitanien ; it belongs to the arrondissement Auch and the municipality of Grand Auch Cœur de Gascogne . Its inhabitants call themselves Castérois / Castéroises .
geography
Castéra-Verduzan is located around 22 kilometers northwest of the city Auch in the north of the Gers department. The community consists of numerous settlements and individual farmsteads. In terms of traffic, the municipality is located on the RD930 .
history
In the Middle Ages, the place was within the county of Haut-Armagnac, which was part of the province of Gascogne. All three parishes belonged to the District Condom from 1793 to 1801. In addition, Castéra-Vivent, La Cavalerie and Verduzan were part of the canton of Saint-Puy from 1793 to 1801. From 1801 to 2015 they were within the canton of Valence-sur-Baïse . The parishes have been assigned to the Arrondissement Condom since 1801. In 1831 the three municipalities of Castéra-Vivent (1821: 578 inhabitants), La Cavalerie (today La Claverie; 1821: 54 inhabitants) and Verduzan (1821: 314 inhabitants) merged to form the new municipality of Castéra-Verduzan.
