Labastide-Savès is a French commune with 174 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitania region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement Auch and the canton Val de Save (until 2015: canton Samatan ).

The inhabitants are called Labastidiens and Labastidiennes .

Labastide-Savès is located about 36 kilometers east-southeast of Auch in the Région naturelle Comminges on the eastern edge of the department.

Labastide-Savès is located in the catchment area of the Garonne River .

The Save , a left tributary of the Garonne, crosses the area of ​​the municipality from south to north. The Aussoue flows for a short section along the border with the neighboring municipality of Samatan to the south before it flows into the Save on the right on the shared border. A few hundred meters upstream, the Ruisseau de la Garenne flows into the Aussoue. The Ruisseau de Camarens, the Ruisseau du Garros and the Ruisseau des Cailloux flow into the Save in the area of ​​the municipality.

history

In the Middle Ages , a landscape between Samatan and L'Isle-Jourdain , the Cogotois, was formed. It roughly comprised the areas of today's municipalities of Clermont-Savès , Marestaing , Monferran-Savès , Castillon-Savès and Auradé . The first landlord settled in his castle in Castillon towards the end of the eleventh century. When the French Revolution broke out, the last landlord emigrated during the greatest unrest in 1791.

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a high of around 380 by the middle of the 19th century. In the period that followed, the size of the community fell, with intermittent recovery phases, to its lowest level of around 110 inhabitants by the 1980s, before a growth phase set, which continues to this day.
