Since 1801 Préneron has been assigned to the Arrondissement Auch and from 1793 to 2015 it belonged to the canton of Vic-Fezensac (originally called canton Vic-sur-Losse).

Population development

The population development is typical for a French rural community. The developments between 1793 and 1831 with strong growth and the subsequent strong rural exodus from 1876 to the beginning of the First World War are normal. From the end of the First World War to 1954 there was no significant change in the number of residents. A second wave of emigration occurred between 1954 and 1968. Since 1982 the population has stabilized at around 140 people.
