Peyrusse-Vieille ( Gaskognisch Peirussa Vielha ) is a French commune with 70 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitania region (until 2015 Midi-Pyrénées ); it belongs to the arrondissement Auch and to the community association Artagnan de Fezensac . The residents call themselves Peyrussiens / Peyrussiennes .
geography
Peyrusse-Vieille is located around 33 kilometers west of Auch in the southwest of the Gers department. The community consists of scattered settlements and individual farmsteads. The Douze river crosses the municipality in a northerly direction and in parts forms the eastern municipal boundary. Part of Lac Saint-Jean belongs to the municipality. The Petit Midour river (still called Ruisseau La Ribérette here ) crosses the municipality in a north-westerly direction.
Neighboring municipalities are Saint-Pierre-d'Aubézies in the north-west and north, Peyrusse-Grande in the north-east and east, Gazax-et-Baccarisse in the south, Louslitges in the south-west and west and Couloumé-Mondebat in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages, Peyrusse-Vieille was in the county of Vic-Fezensac within the Armagnac region in the historic Gascony region and shared its fate. From 1793 to 1801, Peyrusse-Vieille belonged to the Mirande district and the Bassoues canton. From 1801 to 2015 the municipality was assigned to the Arrondissement Mirande and belonged to the canton of Montesquiou .
Population development
The population development is typical for a French rural community. The developments between 1793 and 1846 with strong growth and the strong rural exodus that followed from 1866 until 1954 are normal. After a short growth phase, a second wave of emigration followed between 1968 and 1999. Since 2006, the population has stabilized at around 70 people.

traffic
The community is far away from national traffic routes and has no rail or bus connections. The most important regional traffic routes are the D946 a few kilometers south and the D3 to the west.
