Callian ( Gascon Calhan ) is a French municipality with 47 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Gers in the region Occitania . It belongs to the arrondissement of Auch and the canton of Fezensac . Callian is also a member of the Artagnan de Fezensac community, founded in 2003 . The inhabitants are called Calliannais (es) .

location

Callian is located on a hill by the Guiroue River . The village of Bazian, the hamlet of Lézian and several individual farms belong to the municipality. The place is about 25 kilometers west of the small town Auch in the center of the Gers department. The city of Tarbes is around 47 kilometers to the southwest.

history

The community belonged to the district of Auch from 1793 to 1801. It has been part of the Auch arrondissement since 1801. From 1793 to 2015 the municipality belonged to the canton of Vic-Fezensac (sometimes called Vic-sur-Losse).
