Ansan ( Gaskognisch same name) is a French commune with 78 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the arrondissement Auch and the municipality association Coteaux Arrats Gimone . Its inhabitants call themselves Ansannais / Ansannaises .

geography

Ansan is located around 16 kilometers northeast of the city. Also in the east of the Gers department. The community consists of the village of Ansan, a few groups of houses and individual farmsteads. The Arrats crosses the municipality and partially forms a natural municipality boundary. In terms of traffic, the community is located on the D172 a few kilometers north of the N124 .

history

In the early Middle Ages, the place was in the county of Fezensac. Later then within the county of Haut-Armagnac, which was part of the province of Gascony. Ansan as it is today was built as a fortified place (Castelnau) next to a fortress. The community belonged to the District of Auch from 1793 to 1801. In addition, Ansan was within the Canton of Gimont from 1793 to 2015 . The municipality has been assigned to the arrondissement Auch since 1801.
