Saramon ( also Saramon in Gaskognisch ) is a French commune with 825 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the arrondissement Auch and the canton Astarac-Gimone . Saramon is also a member of the community association Coteaux Arrats Gimone, which was founded in 2014 . The inhabitants are called Saramonais (es) .

location

Saramon is near the Gimone River . The community includes the village of Saramon, the hamlet of Les Boubées and several small settlements and individual farms. The place is about 56 kilometers west-southwest of the city of Toulouse in the south of the Gers department.

history

The community belonged to the district of Auch from 1793 to 1801. It has been part of the Auch arrondissement since 1801. From 1793 to 2015, the municipality was the capital of the canton of Saramon .
