Cazaux-d'Anglès ( Casaus in Gaskognisch ) is a French commune with 119 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region (until 2015 Midi-Pyrénées ); it belongs to the arrondissement Auch and to the community association Artagnan de Fezensac . The residents call themselves Cazalais / Cazalaises . The residents call themselves Mirannais / Mirannaises .
geography
Cazaux-d'Anglès is located around 26 kilometers west of Auch in the center of the Gers department. The community consists of the places Cazaux-d'Anglès, Ardens and Montgaillard as well as small settlements and individual farms. The Auzoue partially forms the western boundary of the municipality.
Neighboring communities are Belmont and Tudelle in the north, Bazian in the north-east and east, Riguepeu in the east and south-east, Castelnau-d'Anglès and Callian in the south, Peyrusse-Grande in the south-west and west and Lupiac in the north-west.
history
In the Middle Ages Cazaux-d'Anglès was the historic landscape Gascogne and shared his fate. Cazaux-d'Anglès belonged to the District of Auch from 1793 to 1801. Since 1801, Cazaux-d'Anglès has been assigned to the arrondissement Auch and belonged to the canton of Vic-Fezensac (originally called canton Vic-sur-Losse) from 1793 to 2015 . The municipality has only existed in its current form since 1821. At that time, the former municipality of Cazaux-d'Anglès (1821: 224 inhabitants) merged with the municipalities of Ardens (1821: 162 inhabitants) and Mont-Gaillard (1821: 217 inhabitants) to form the current one Local community.
