Mirannes ( Gaskognisch Miranas ) is a French commune with 66 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region (until 2015 Midi-Pyrénées ); it belongs to the arrondissement Auch and to the community association Artagnan de Fezensac . The residents call themselves Mirannais / Mirannaises .
geography
Mirannes is located around 17 kilometers west-southwest of Auch in the center of the Gers department. The Baïse forms the eastern municipal boundary in parts. The community consists of numerous scattered settlements and individual farmsteads.
Neighboring communities are Le Brouilh-Monbert in the north, Barran in the east, L'Isle-de-Noé in the south, Montesquiou in the south-west, Saint-Arailles in the west and Riguepeu in the north-west.
history
In the Middle Ages, Mirannes lay in the historical landscape of Gascony and shared its fate. Mirannes belonged to the Canton of Barran and the District of Auch from 1793 to 1801. Since 1801 Mirannes has been assigned to the arrondissement Auch and from 1801 to 2015 it belonged to the canton of Vic-Fezensac (originally called canton Vic-sur-Losse).
Population development
The population development is typical for a French rural community. The developments between 1793 and 1846 with strong growth and the subsequent strong rural exodus from 1866 to 1982 are normal. Since then, the population has stabilized at around 70 people.

traffic
The community is far away from national traffic routes and has no rail or bus connections. The most important traffic route is the D943, which passes in the southern neighboring municipality of L'Isle-de-Noé.
