Montamat ( Gascon is identical) is a French municipality with 136 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Gers in the region Occitania (before 2016 Midi-Pyrenees ). It belongs to the canton of Val de Save (until 2015 Lombez ) and the arrondissement Auch . The inhabitants are called Montamatais .

Montamat is about 48 kilometers west-southwest of Toulouse . Montamat is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Soulan in the north, Samatan in the east and northeast, Lombez in the east and southeast, Sauveterre in the south, Gaujac in the south and southwest and Mongausy in the west and northwest.
