Montiron ( same name in Gaskognisch ) is a French commune with 140 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitania region ; it belongs to the arrondissement Auch and the municipality association Coteaux Arrats Gimone . Its inhabitants call themselves Montironais / Montironaises .
geography
Montiron is located around 22 kilometers east-southeast of the city. Also in the southeast of the Gers department. The community consists of the village of Montiron, a few groups of houses and individual farmsteads. The Gimone forms the western, the Marcaoue partly the eastern municipal boundary . In terms of traffic, the community is a few kilometers south of the N124 .
history
In the Middle Ages, the place was within the Gimois rule, which was part of the province of Gascony. The parish belonged to the District of L'Isle-Jourdain from 1793 to 1801. The parish was assigned to the arrondissement of Lombès (Lombez) from 1801 to 1926. This was dissolved and the community has been part of the arrondissement of Auch since 1926.
