The Mairie of Betcave-Aguin

Betcave-Aguin ( Gascon : Vathcave e Aguin) is a French municipality with 85 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Gers in the region Occitania . It belongs to the arrondissement of Auch and the canton of Val de Save . The residents call themselves Betcaviens / Betcaviennes .

geography

Betcave-Aguin is located around 24 kilometers south-east of Auch in the south of the Gers department. The community consists of hamlets, numerous scattered settlements and individual farmsteads. The river Lauze crosses the municipality in a northerly direction.

It borders Tachoires to the north, Simorre to the east, Villefranche to the southeast, Meilhan to the south, Bellegarde to the southwest and Moncorneil-Grazan to the west .

history

Aguin and Betcave belonged to the District of L'Isle Jourdain and the Canton of Simorre from 1793 to 1801. From 1801 to 1926 they were in the arrondissement of Lombez and since 1926 they have been assigned to the arrondissement of Auch and from 1801 to 2015 they belonged to the canton of Lombez . In 1821 the municipalities of Aguin (1821: 134 inhabitants) and Betcave (1821: 203 inhabitants) merged to form today's municipality.
