Lauriane Genest (born May 28, 1998 in Montreal ) is a Canadian track cyclist who specializes in short-term disciplines.
Athletic career
In her youth Lauriane Genest was active in figure skating . After a disappointing season, she decided to switch to cycling and initially trained on the streets with her father. In 2015, she rode on a cycling track for the first time in Bromont . In 2017 she took part in the RBC Training Ground , a Canadian program in which young athletes are tested for their potential. In the same year she was two-time Canadian champion, in the 500-meter time trial and with Tegan Cochrane in the team sprint .
In April 2018, Genest had its first international start at the Commonwealth Games . She came in seventh in the keirin and fourth in the sprint . In the same year she was again two-time national champion and won silver in the Keirin and with Amelia Walsh in the team sprint at the Pan American Championships . In 2019 she was two-time Pan American champion in keirin and team sprint (with Kelsey Mitchell ).
