Bromont is a city in southwest Quebec in Canada . It is located 75 kilometers east of the megacity of Montreal .

The city has a high-tech business park and a smaller airport .

Demographics

The census in 2016 showed a population of 9,041 inhabitants for the municipality, after the census in 2011 showed a population of 7,649 inhabitants for the municipality. The population has increased by 18.2% compared to the last census in 2011 and is thus well above the provincial average with a population increase in Québec of 3.3%. In the census period 2006 to 2011, the population in the municipality had increased by 26.4%, well above the provincial trend, where the population had increased by 4.7%.

For the 2016 census, a median age of 44.2 years was determined for the municipality . The median age of the province in 2016 was only 42.5 years. The average age was 42.2 years, or 41.9 years in the province. For the 2011 census, a median age of 41.4 years was determined for the municipality. The median age of the province in 2011 was only 41.9 years.

Sports

At the 1976 Summer Olympics , all equestrian competitions, with the exception of team jumping, took place in Bromont. Various international tournaments organized by the FEI in show jumping , dressage , eventing and driving are held in the maintained and last updated 2010 Olympic facility . In 2018, Bromont was the second city in North America to host the World Equestrian Games . In July 2016, however, it was announced that the organizers had to terminate the contract with the FEI for financial reasons.

In addition to horse riding, you can also go skiing , mountain biking or golfing in Bromont .
