location

The village of Ordan is located on a hill east of the Auloue . The municipality includes the village of Ordan, several hamlets and numerous small settlements and individual farms. The place is about 11 kilometers northwest of the small town Auch in the center of the Gers department. The city of Tarbes is around 59 kilometers to the south-west.

history

The community has been settled for a long time. This is proven by finds of stone axes from the Neolithic Age. The remains of two Roman villas date from the Gallo-Roman period. The first fortress (Castelnau) was built in the 12th century. All sub-communities belonged to the district of Auch from 1793 to 1801. Since 1801 they were part of the arrondissement of Auch. From 1793 to 2015, the communities Larroque-Ordan , Meilhan and Ordan belonged to the canton of Jegun (sometimes called Jégun). The municipality of Ardenne belonged to the canton of Barran from 1793 to 1801 and to the canton of Auch-Sud from 1801 to 1824. The municipality of Ardenne was incorporated into Ordan in 1824. In 1828 Larroque-Ordan and Meilhan came to the parish of Ordan. Since that year the community has had the double name Ordan-Larroque.
