The Sud-Ouest wine-growing region

The Côtes de Saint-Mont wine-growing region is located north of the Madiran appellation in the south of the Sud-Ouest wine-growing region in southwest France. The vineyards cover over 1,000 hectares of vineyards and have had the status of a VDQS since March 25, 1981 . Approved vineyards are in the 48 municipalities of Aignan , Aire-sur-l'Adour , Arblade-le-Bas , Armentieux , Armous-et-Cau , Aurensan , Avéron-Bergelle , Barcelonne-du-Gers , Beaumarchés , Bernède , Bouzon-Gellenave , Castelnavet , Caumont , Corneillan , Couloumé-Mondebat , Courties , Dému , Fustérouau , Gazax et Baccarisse , Goux , Ju-Belloc , Labarthète , Ladevèze-Rivière , Ladevèze-Ville , Lannux , Lasserade , Lelin-Lapujolle , Louslitges , Loussous-Débat , Lupiac , Margoüet-Meymès , Maulichères , Peyrusse-Grande , Peyrusse-Vieille , Plaisance-du-Gers , Pouydraguin , Projan , Riscle , Sabazan , Saint-Aunix-Lengros , Saint-Mont , Saint-Pierre-d'Aubézies , Sarragachies , Séailles , Tasque , Termes-d'Armagnac , Tieste-Uragnoux , Vergoignan and Verlus , all located in the Gers department .

Red wine and rosé wine are blended from the grape varieties Tannat (share at least 60%), Fer Servadou (share at least 10%, from the 2020 harvest this share must be at least 20%), Cabernet Sauvignon , Cabernet Franc and Merlot . Since 1997 the creation of new plants with Merlot has been prohibited. From 2020 the Merlot may no longer be used for the production of the wine. The minimum alcohol content is 10 percent by volume .

The white wine consists of Arrufiac (share at least 20%), Courbu (share at least 20%), and Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng (share maximum 20%). The joint share of Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng must therefore not exceed 60%. The minimum alcohol content is 10 percent by volume.

In general, a harvest restriction of max. 60 hectoliters / hectare.
