Courties is a French commune with 56 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Mirande and the canton of Pardiac-Rivière-Basse (until 2015: canton of Montesquiou ).

The inhabitants are called Courtisans and Courtisanes .

Courties is located approximately 21 kilometers west-northwest of Mirande in the historic province of Armagnac on the southwestern edge of the department.

Courties is surrounded by the four neighboring communities:

Beaumarchés		Armous-et-Cau
	Tourdun

Courties is located in the river Adour catchment .

The Lys, a tributary of the Bouès , largely forms the natural border with the neighboring municipality of Tourdun to the south.

The Ruisseau de Mauran, a tributary of the Midou , flows along the border with the northeastern neighboring municipality of Louslitges.

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a peak of around 295 by the middle of the 19th century. In the period that followed, the size of the community sank to its lowest level of around 45 inhabitants before the first decade of the 21st century a period of moderate growth began.

Parish Church of Saint-Pierre-aux-Lien

It contains an oil painting from the 18th century, which has been inscribed as a monument historique of the objects since January 18, 1999 . It is the work of the painter and sculptor Jean Chavauty and depicts the patron saint , the apostle Peter .
