Idrac-Respaillès ( Gascon : Idrac e Hrespalhers ) is a French municipality with 214 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Gers in the region Occitania (2015 Midi-Pyrenees ). It belongs to the Arrondissement Mirande and the municipality association Astarac Arros en Gascogne, founded in 2012 . The inhabitants call themselves Idracais .
geography
Idrac-Respaillès is located in the Astarac countryside in the east of the historic Gascogne province on the Petite Baïse River , five kilometers east of Mirande and about 100 kilometers southwest of Toulouse . The 13.03 km² large municipal area includes many hamlets and individual farms. The terrain on the left of the Petite Baïse slopes gently from west to east, on the right of the river the landscape is more hilly - here, near the hamlet of Saubole, the highest point in the municipality is reached at 266 meters above sea level. Idrac-Respaillès is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Miramont-d'Astarac in the north, Labéjan in the east, Loubersan in the southeast, Saint-Médard in the south and Mirande in the west.
history
Idrac-Respaillès owned an abbey that had been a branch of the Sainte-Marie chapter in Auch since the 12th century . Occupied by Protestants in the 16th century, the abbey was later destroyed by Marshal Matignon . The municipality as it is today was established in 1825 when Idrac and Respaillès merged.

Economy and Infrastructure
In the commune of Idrac-Respaillès there are 25 farms, which mainly cultivate cereals and raise cattle.
Just north of Idrac-Respaillès, Route nationale 21 runs from Agen to Lourdes . The trunk road from L'Isle-de-Noé to Lannemezan (D2) runs through the municipality .
