Tarsac ( Gascon : Tarsac (Ribera Baisha)) is a French municipality with 168 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Gers in the region Okzitanien ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Mirande .
geography
Tarsac is located around 13 kilometers southeast of the small town of Aire-sur-l'Adour in the west of the Gers department. It belongs to the Côtes de Saint-Mont wine region . The main bodies of water are the Adour river , the Pesqué stream , the Canal du Moulin and some small ponds. The most important supra-regional transport connection is the A65 autoroute (part of Europastraße 7 ), a few kilometers west of the municipality . Tarsac is a bus stop on the 940 Aire-sur-l'Adour-Tarbes bus line.
Tarsac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Caumont in the north-west and north, Maulichères in the north-east, Riscle in the south-east and south, Saint-Mont in the south-west and Saint-Germé in the west.
history
The area around Tarsac has been inhabited since the earliest times. Historically, the municipality lies within Gascony and belongs to the Rivière-Basse region . The community is first mentioned in a church document from the 14th century. In the Hundred Years War, the Lord of Tarsac took part on the French side. In 1494 the place was conquered by the troops of the Count of Foix. At that time, Augé de Lau was a feudal lord. From 1793 to 1801 Tarsac belonged to the district of Nogaro, from 1793 to 1801 and from 1802 to 2015 to the canton Riscle (1801-1802 to the canton of Barcelonne).
