Lagarde-Hachan ( Gascon : La Garda e Haishan) is a French municipality with 164 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Gers in the region Occitania (2015 Midi-Pyrénées ); it belongs to the Arrondissement Mirande and the municipality of Astarac Arros en Gascogne . The residents call themselves Lagardais / Lagardaises .
geography
Lagarde-Hachan is about fourteen kilometers southeast of Mirande and 28 kilometers southwest of Auch in the south of the Gers department. The community consists of hamlets, numerous scattered settlements and individual farmsteads. The Petite Baïse and the Sousson cross the municipality in a northerly direction and in parts form the municipality boundary.
Neighboring communities are Saint-Arroman in the north and north-east, Samaran in the east and south-east, Aujan-Mournède in the south, Viozan and Sauviac in the west and Saint-Élix-Theux in the north-west and north.
history
In the Middle Ages, Hachan-de-Bas (Faissan at that time) and Lagarde Noble were located in Kastlanei Moncassin within the county of Astarac in the historic Gascon region and shared their fate. Both communities belonged to the Mirande district and the canton of Masseube from 1793 to 1801. Since 1801, both original municipalities have been assigned to the Arrondissement of Mirande and belonged to the Canton of Mirande from 1793 to 2015 . In 1822 the municipalities of Hachan-de-Bas (1821: 67 inhabitants) and Lagarde Noble (1821: 158 inhabitants) merged to form today's municipality.
Population development
The population development is typical for a French rural community. The developments between 1793 and 1846 with growth and the strong rural exodus that followed from 1861 are normal. The historic low was reached in 1990. Since then, the population has increased significantly.
