Sarragachies ( Gascon : Sarragaishias ) is a French municipality with 237 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Gers in the region Okzitanien ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Mirande .
geography
Sarragachies is located around 43 kilometers (as the crow flies) southeast of the city of Mont-de-Marsan in the west of the Gers department and belongs to the Côtes de Saint-Mont wine-growing region and the Armagnac brandy region . Numerous bodies of water originate or cross the municipal area. The most important are the Adour and Izaute rivers . There are also several dams and ponds in the municipal area. The D3 passes in the south of the municipality. The closest bus stop is Riscle on line 940 Tarbes - Mont-de-Marsan.
The hamlet of Lacaussade lies in the Adour river valley, the village of Sarragachies on a south-facing slope north of the river valley and the hamlet of Laleuge on the top of this hill. Part of the narrow river valley of the Izaute also belongs to the municipality.
Sarragachies is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Martin-d'Armagnac in the northwest and north, sorbets in the northeast, Termes-d'Armagnac in the east, Izotges in the southeast, Riscle in the south and Maulichères in the west.
history
The municipality is historically located within Gascony and belongs to the Bas-Armagnac region . From 1793 to 1801 Sarragachies belonged to the Nogaro district. Also from 1793 to 1801 to the canton Riscle. After that she was assigned to the canton of Aignan until 2015 . First Sarragachies was called Sarrgachies , from 1801 the current name. In 1822 the then independent municipalities of Lacaussade (then La Caussade; 1821 191 inhabitants) and Laleugue (then Laleugne; 1821 150 inhabitants) were incorporated.
