Arrouède ( Gaskognisch Arroeda ) is a French commune with 110 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region (until 2015 Midi-Pyrénées ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Mirande and the municipal association Val de Gers . The residents call themselves Arrouédais / Arrouédaises .

geography

Arrouède is located around 34 kilometers southeast of Mirande in the south of the Gers department. The municipality consists of the place Arrouède, numerous scattered settlements and individual farms.

Neighboring communities are Panassac in the north, Bézues-Bajon in the northeast, Cabas-Loumassès in the east, Manent-Montané in the southeast, Mont-d'Astarac in the south and Chélan in the west.

history

In the Middle Ages, Arrouède was in the Kastlanei Moncassin within the county of Astarac in the historic Gascony region and shared its fate. Arrouède belonged to the Canton of Mondastarac and the District of Mirande from 1793 to 1801. Arrouède has been part of the Mirande arrondissement since 1801 and was part of the Masseube canton from 1801 to 2015 .
