Duffort ( Occitan : Durfòrt ) is a French commune with 141 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitania region (until 2015 Midi-Pyrénées ). It belongs to the Arrondissement Mirande and the municipality association Astarac Arros en Gascogne, founded in 2012 . The inhabitants call themselves Duffortois .
geography
Duffort is located in the Astarac countryside in the east of the historic Gascogne province between the Grande Baïse in the west and Baïsole in the southeast, 33 kilometers northeast of Tarbes and about 100 kilometers southwest of Toulouse . The municipal area of 9.84 km² includes many hamlets and individual farms. A narrow mountain range with heights over 300 m above sea level runs through the municipality in a north-south direction, the terrain drops steeply to the west and gently slopes to the east. Near the hamlet of Duran , the highest point in the community area is reached at 332 meters above sea level. To the west, south and south-east, Duffort borders the Hautes-Pyrénées department . Duffort is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Barcugnan and Sainte-Aurence-Cazaux in the north, Cuélas in the east, Guizerix in the southeast, Sadournin in the south and Fontrailles in the west.
