The canton of Mirande-Astarac is a French constituency in the Occitanie region . It is located in the Mirande arrondissement of the Gers department . The capital of the canton is Mirande.

The canton is located in the south of the department on the border with the Hautes-Pyrénées department .
history
The canton was created on March 22, 2015 as part of the reorganization of the cantons. Until 2015, its municipalities belonged to the cantons of Mirande (23 municipalities), Miélan (19 municipalities) and Marciac (1 municipality).

Elections to the Council of the Gers Department
In the elections on March 22, 2015, no party achieved a majority. In the second ballot on March 29, 2015, Francis Dupouey / Céline Salles (Union de la gauche) won against Jean-François Darroux / Muriel Larrieu (Divers droite) and Jacqueline Cornon / Jean-Luc Yelma ( FN ) a share of the vote of 51.36% (turnout: 63.69%).
