The canton of L'Isle-Jourdain is a French canton in the Occitanie region . It is located in the arrondissement of Auch of the Gers department . The main town is L'Isle-Jourdain .
geography
The canton is located in the far east of the department on the border with the Haute-Garonne department . It is not to be confused with the canton L'Isle-Jourdain in the Vienne department .
history
The canton was established on February 15, 1790. From 1801 to 2015, 14 parishes belonged to the canton of L'Isle-Jourdain. The canton was downsized on March 22, 2015 as part of the reorganization of the cantons. Four municipalities switched to other cantons. As a result, the canton of L'Isle-Jourdain has only had ten municipalities since 2015.

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton L'Isle-Jourdain included the 14 municipalities of Auradé , Beaupuy , Castillon-Savès , Clermont-Savès , Endoufielle , Frégouville , Giscaro , L'Isle-Jourdain , Lias , Marestaing , Monferran -Savès , Pujaudran , Razengues and Ségoufielle . Its layout corresponded to an area of 221.03 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 3010.

Elections to the Council of the Gers Department
In the elections on March 22, 2015, no party achieved a majority. In the runoff election in the 2nd ballot on March 29, 2015, the team Christine Ducarrouge / Francis Larroque ( UMP ) won against Marie-Christine Clair / Gérard Paul (Union de la gauche) with a share of the vote of 51.36% (turnout: 54, 75%).
