Cyprian († November 16, 1207 ) was bishop of Lebus (1199) and of Breslau (1201–1207).

Premonstratensian Canon

Cyprian was possibly canon of the Premonstratensian Abbey of Cappenberg in Westphalia . In 1181 a Cyprian was named as canon in the Premonstratensian monastery in Seelau in Bohemia. In 1193 Cyprian was mentioned as the first abbot of the new Premonstratensian Monastery of St. Vincent in Breslau .

Bishop of Lebus

In 1199 Cyprian was named as Bishop of Lebus in a papal document. Further information at this time is not available.

Bishop of Wroclaw

After the death of Bishop Jaroslaw from Wrocław , Cyprian was elected his successor in 1201. As a bishop, he was one of the close companions of the dukes Henry I and Henry the Bearded , whose colonization efforts in Silesia he supported. In 1203, with his participation in Trebnitz, the first women's monastery in Silesia with Cistercian women was founded.

He was bishop of Breslau until his death in 1207. After his death he was allegedly buried in the monastery church of the Cistercian monastery Leubus .
