St. Vincent's Premonstratensian Monastery

The St. Vincent monastery was a Premonstratensian monastery in Breslau . It had been on the Elbing on the cathedral island since the 12th century and was moved to the previous Franciscan monastery in the old town in 1530. In 1810 it was secularized.

Benedictine Abbey
Around 1140 an abbey was built by Benedictines on the Elbing. The founder was the magnate Peter Wlast , the monks came from the monastery in Tyniec.

Around 1180 the monastery was occupied by Premonstratensian canons, probably on the initiative of Duke Bolesław I. The first abbot was Cyprian , who was mentioned in 1193. The monastery developed and received extensive property holdings.

1530 the monastery was moved to the former Franciscan monastery in the old town and the buildings on the Elbing were demolished.

In 1810 the St. Vinzenz monastery was dissolved.
