geography
Saint-Élix-Theux is located around eleven kilometers southeast of Mirande and 26 kilometers southwest of Auch in the south of the Gers department. The community consists of hamlets, numerous scattered settlements and individual farmsteads. The Petite Baïse crosses the municipality in a northerly direction.

history
The area was settled early on. This is evidenced by the excavation of a villa from the Gallo-Roman period. In the Middle Ages, Saint-Élix was in the Kastlanei Villefranche and Theux in the Kastlanei Moncassin within the county of Astarac in the historic Gascon region and shared their fate. Both parishes belonged to the Mirande district from 1793 to 1801. Since 1801, both original municipalities have been assigned to the Arrondissement of Mirande and belonged to the Canton of Mirande from 1793 to 2015 . In 1821 the municipalities of Saint-Élix (1821: 269 inhabitants) and Theux (1821: 70 inhabitants) united to form today's municipality.
Population development
The population development is typical for a French rural community. The developments between 1793 and 1861 are normal, with growth and the subsequent strong rural exodus. The population is therefore at an all-time low nowadays.
