Tieste-Uragnoux ( Occitan : Tièste e Los Uranhós ) is a French commune with 167 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the Arrondissement Mirande and the municipal association Bastides et Vallons du Gers . The inhabitants call themselves Tiestois .

geography

The municipality of Tieste-Uragnoux is located on the border with the Hautes-Pyrénées department on the Adour River and in its wide valley, about 35 kilometers north of Tarbes and 55 kilometers west-southwest of Auch . The community has the character of a scattered settlement and consists of several hamlets and individual farms. Notable districts are Montus, Clinton, Bourret, Bourbon. Manséou, Mathiou, Lebrun, Pibrail, Michel, Latreille, Le Château, Laventure, Trasseur, Bruhat, Larroze, Tétu and La Biste . The terrain in the municipality is in the western part table level at about 150 meters above sea level; In the east of the municipality, gentle, partly wooded hills reach heights of up to 224 m above sea level. In Tieste-Uragnoux, the Canal d'Alaric , a flood protection canal for the Adour Valley, joins the Adour again. Tieste-Uragnoux is surrounded by the neighboring communities Jû-Belloc in the north, Saint-Aunix-Lengros in the northeast, Ladevèze-Ville in the east, Labatut-Rivière in the south and Hères in the west.

The municipality of Tieste-Uragnoux was created in 1822 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Tieste and Uragnoux.

Economy and Infrastructure

No wines are currently produced in Tieste-Uragnoux, but the sites would be approved for the use of the Côtes de Saint-Mont label .

Ten farms are located in the community (growing grain and vegetables, breeding horses and poultry).

Tieste-Uragnoux is on the D173 highway, which follows the right bank of the Adour from Izotges to Maubourguet . There is a connection to the A65 Autoroute in the municipality of Garlin , 32 kilometers to the west .
