Sabazan ( Gascon : Sabasan ) is a French municipality with 131 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Gers in the region Okzitanien ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Mirande .

geography

Sabazan is located around 44 kilometers (as the crow flies) west of the city. Also in the west of the Gers department and belongs to the Côtes de Saint-Mont wine-growing region and the Armagnac brandy region . Numerous bodies of water arise on or cross the municipality. Most important is the Petit Midour river . There are also several small dams and ponds in the municipality. The community is located away from important national transport connections. The closest bus stop is Cahuzac-sur-Adour on line 940 Tarbes - Mont-de-Marsan.

Sabazan is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Aignan in the northeast, east and south, Bouzon-Gellenave in the southwest, Bétous in the west and Loubédat in the northwest.

history

The municipality is historically located within Gascony and belongs to the Bas-Armagnac region . From 1793 to 1801 Sabazan was part of the Nogaro district. From 1793 to 1801 also to the canton of Plaisance, then to 2015 to the canton of Aignan .
