Seissan ( Gascon : Sheishan ) is a commune with 1,091 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the southwest of the country. Seissan is part of the Région Midi-Pyrénées and the Département Gers . The parish covers an area of 18.56 square kilometers. Seissan is located in the Arrondissement of Mirande and in the canton of Astarac-Gimone (canton Auch-Sud-Est-Seissan until 2015 ).
geography
The place is located in the historic county of Astarac about 17 kilometers south of Auch . The rivers Gers (after which the department is named), Cédon and Sousson flow through Seissan .
history
The bastide was founded in the 12th century by Bernard IV. De Astarac. In 1973 the former municipality of Artiguedieu – Garrané was incorporated.
