history

In the Middle Ages, the towns of Cazaux-Seillan (then Loucazan-Seillan) and Sainte-Aurence lay within the Kastlanei Moncassin of the county of Astarac in the historic Gascon region and shared their fate. Arroux, Bastanous and Manas belonged to the Mirande district from 1793 to 1801. Since 1801, the municipalities have been assigned to the Arrondissement of Mirande. Cazaux-Seillan belonged to the canton of Mondastarac from 1793 to 1801 and then to the canton of Miélan . Sainte-Aurence was in the canton of Miélan from 1793 to 2015. In 1822 the municipalities of Cazaux-Seillan (1821: 252 inhabitants) and Sainte-Aurence (1821: 308 inhabitants) united to form today's municipality.

Population development

The population development is typical for a French rural community. Developments between 1793 and 1821 with strong growth are normal. This was followed by a wave of emigration that continues to this day from 1846.
