Termes-d'Armagnac ( Gascon : Termis d'Armanhac ) is a French municipality with 191 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Gers in the region Okzitanien ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Mirande .

geography

Termes-d'Armagnac is located around 46 kilometers (as the crow flies) southeast of the city of Mont-de-Marsan in the west of the Gers department and belongs to the Côtes de Saint-Mont wine-growing region and the Armagnac brandy region . Numerous bodies of water originate or cross the municipal area. The most important are the Adour and Izaute rivers . There are also several ponds in the municipality. The D3 passes in the south of the municipality. The closest bus stop is Cahuzac-sur-Adour on line 940 Tarbes - Mont-de-Marsan.

A smaller part of the community lies in the Adour river valley, the village of Termes-d'Armagnac itself on a gently sloping slope in the narrow Izaute river valley.

Termes-d'Armagnac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sorbets in the north, Fustérouau in the northeast and east, Bouzon-Gellenave in the east, Pouydraguin in the southeast, Tasque in the south, Izotges in the southwest and Sarragachies in the west.

history

The municipality is historically located within Gascony and belongs to the Bas-Armagnac region . From 1793 to 1801 Termes-d'Armagnac was part of the Nogaro district. Also to the canton of Plaisance from 1793 to 1801. After that she was assigned to the canton of Aignan until 2015 . First Termes-d'Armagnac was called Termes , from 1801 Thermes , then from 1894 Thermes-d'Armagnac and even later the h in Thermes was dropped and the municipality received its current name.

  • Village church of Saint-Pierre (partly Romanesque , mostly Gothic , from the 15th century)
  • Historical museum in the donjon of the lost castle (in summer it is the scene of a medieval spectacle)
