Estipouy is a French commune with 208 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Mirande and the canton of Pardiac-Rivière-Basse (until 2015: canton of Montesquiou ).
The inhabitants are called Estipouyais and Estipouyaises .

Estipouy is about four kilometers northwest of Mirande in the historic province of Armagnac .

Waters
Estipouy lies in the catchment area of the Garonne River .
The Baïse , one of its left tributaries, flows along the border with the neighboring municipality of Mouchès to the east. The Ruisseau de Macaouat rises in Estipouy, runs on the border to the northern neighboring municipality of L'Isle-de-Noé and flows into the Baïse as a left tributary.
Estipouy is also crossed by the Lizet, a tributary of the Osse , which is dammed into a reservoir in the north-west of the municipality .
history
Estipouy has been in the hands of the de Montesquiou family since the 12th century, who lived here in a castle that has now disappeared until the French Revolution .
Population development
After the beginning of the records, the population rose to a high of around 410 by the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community fell with intermittent recovery phases until the 1980s to its lowest level of around 135 inhabitants before a phase of growth began. which continues to this day.

Parish Church of Saint-Lizier
It has a bell tower with an octagonal helmet and an entrance portal in the Gothic style. The church is more recent, with changes in the 19th century, but it was preceded by an older building.
The church has four pieces of equipment that are classified as Monument historique :
- a polychrome statue made of wood from the 15th century depicting Mary with the baby Jesus
- a statue made of painted and gilded wood from the 18th century depicting Mary with baby Jesus
- Furniture in the sacristy and prayer chair made of wood from the 18th century
- a 15th or 16th century wooden statue depicting Christ on the cross.

Estipouy is located in the AOC zones of the Porc noir de Bigorre pig breed and the Jambon noir de Bigorre ham .
