La Fitte-Loupière and Ponsampère belonged to the Mirande district from 1793 to 1801. La Fitte-Loupière and Ponsampère have been assigned to the Arrondissement of Mirande since 1801 and belonged to the Canton of Mirande from 1793 to 2015 . The municipality has only existed in its current form since 1822. At that time, the former municipality of La Fitte-Loupière (1821: 103 inhabitants) merged with the municipality of Ponsampère (1821: 240 inhabitants) to form today's municipality. From 1972 to 1993 Ponsampère was part of the Berdoues municipality.
