La Fitte-Loupière and Ponsampère belonged to the Mirande district from 1793 to 1801. The municipality has only existed in its current form since 1822. At that time, the former municipality of La Fitte-Loupière (1821: 103 inhabitants) merged with the municipality of Ponsampère (1821: 240 inhabitants) to form today's municipality. From 1972 to 1993 Ponsampère was part of the Berdoues municipality.
