Saint-Germé ( Gascon : Sent Germer) is a French commune with 500 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Mirande .
geography
Saint-Germé is located around 10 kilometers southeast of the small town of Aire-sur-l'Adour in the west of the Gers department. It belongs to the Côtes de Saint-Mont wine region . The main bodies of water are the Adour River , the Le Jarras stream and a few small ponds. The most important supra-regional transport connection is the A65 autoroute (part of Europastraße 7 ), a few kilometers west of the municipality . Saint-Germé is a bus stop on the 940 Aire-sur-l'Adour-Tarbes bus line.
Saint-Germé is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lelin-Lapujolle in the north, Caumont in the northeast, Tarsac in the southeast, Saint-Mont in the south, Corneillan in the southwest, Gée-Rivière in the west and Barcelonne-du-Gers in the west and northwest.
history
The municipality is historically located within Gascony . From 1793 to 1801 Saint-Germé belonged to the district of Nogaro, from 1793 to 1802 to the canton of Barcelonne and then until 2015 to the canton of Riscle . In 1822 the municipality of Barthe-Cagnard (1821: 30 inhabitants) was incorporated.
