Panassac ( Gascon : also Panassac) is a French commune with 288 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitania region (until 2015 Midi-Pyrénées ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Mirande and the municipal association Val de Gers . The residents call themselves Panassacais / Panassacaises .

geography

Panassac is located around 20 kilometers southeast of Mirande in the south of the Gers department. The community consists of the place Panassac, numerous scattered settlements and individual farms.

Neighboring municipalities are Esclassan-Labastide in the northwest and north, Masseube in the northeast, Bézues-Bajon in the east, Arrouède in the southeast and south, Chélan in the south and southwest and Samaran in the west.

history

In the Middle Ages, Panassac was in the Kastlanei Moncassin within the county of Astarac in the historic Gascony region and shared its fate. Panassac was part of the Mirande district from 1793 to 1801. Panassac has been part of the Mirande arrondissement since 1801 and was part of the Masseube canton from 1793 to 2015 .
